Aikido Alliance

is an umbrella gathering of 

like-minded Aikido Organizations, Aikido Dojos and Senior Aikido Instructors across the United States and beyond with direct links to Aikido Hombu Dojo / Aikikai who are committed to pursuing the best continuation and dissemination of both the premise and practice of Aikido and the wide-ranging benefits that its practice and principles have to offer to individuals, our communities and our evolving society.

It is is new way for Aikido organizations, Dojos and Senior Instructors to join together in principle and action. Separate yet together in the spirit of Aikido and intention of the Founder and of Aikido Hombu Dojo / Aikikai for solidarity and friendship.
To simply come together under an umbrella of friends. The purpose being for mutual support and growth and a healthier and stronger future for Aikido as well as a cohesive front for proper and fuller representation on the world stage.

Through this Aikido Alliance, a gathering of friends through Aikido, we can come together in greater strength and solidarity — in shared devotion to the depth and breadth of Aikido and to what it has done, does, and can do, for individuals, our communities and our shared world.


 One of the guiding principles of this Aikido Alliance is that no one person or organization will lead such an egalitarian coalition or attempt to usurp it for reasons contrary to it's intent.


Guidelines and By-Laws will be discussed and agreed upon by all founding parties.

DESCRIPTION

OVERVIEW

Member organizations, dojos and significant senior instructors join together but retain their independence, autonomy, structure and standards —

Minimal structure / Consensus-based / Equal seats, Equal voice.


INITIAL DECLARATION

To join together as Aikido friends in order to collaborate and solidify our strength and talents — both for cohesiveness and proper representation nationally and internationally, and to insure a healthier and fuller continued growth of Aikido.

To celebrate and strengthen the diversity and wide range of expressions and practices of Aikido.


TECHNICAL COMMITTEE
To advise and clarify technical criteria for consistent overall quality of technique and to oversee and submit proper and legitimate promotion advancements to Aikikai/Hombu.


GLOBAL FRIENDSHIP NETWORK
This is a friendship organization and many of our members have global connections. In order to enhance friendship activities we wholeheartedly accept friends and colleagues from abroad as associate members who are in sync with the spirit intended. Such acceptance would be granted with a two-thirds agreement among the current members.

GUIDING PRINCIPLES


A simple, egalitarian community emphasizing friendship and shared goals.

Minimal structure — simply a council of representatives.

Members retain complete autonomy.

Members retain their direct connections to Hombu Dojo/Aikikai, etc..

No monies to benefit any one organization or individual.

To exchange shared ideas, methods and to better help one another.

To pool resources to create an effective nationwide marketing campaign for Aikido.

To set a good example.

   To mentor the next generation.

To follow Aikido's guiding premise to be inclusive, not exclusive.

To join together as Friends in the spirit of Aikido.
